The Department of Education (DepEd) Region VII, Schools Division of the City of Naga, Cebu, conducted the 2-day Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet 2026 Refresher Course on March 19–20, 2026, at the Enan Chiong Activity Center (ECAC).
With the theme “United in Sports,” the activity gathered coaches, sports coordinators, and technical officials to review updated guidelines and protocols for the upcoming CVIRAA Meet 2026.
The program opened with a formal ceremony and the enthusiastic cheers from the Technical Officials representing various sporting events, as Dr. Jasmine V. Birondo , Division Sports Coordinator of DepEd SDO City of Naga, acknowledged the participants.
Messages from key officials including the mayor of the City of Naga, Hon. Valdemar M. Chiong duly represented by Hon. Carmelino N. Cruz Jr. , and the Schools Division Superintendent of SDO City of Naga, Dr. Ronald G. Gutay , who highlighted the importance of teamwork, commitment, and preparedness in ensuring the success of the regional sports meet.
Plenary sessions by Chief Tomas T. Pastor , Chief of the Education Support Services Division (ESSD) of DepEd Region VII, focused on the Rationale of the Refresher Course along with essential updates, including Learner Rights and Protection Guidelines and Protocols. The breakout sessions that happened in the thereafter allowed participants to discuss specific concerns per sporting events held in the different venues in the City of Naga.
The refresher course aims to ensure that all sports personnel are well-equipped to deliver an organized and successful CVIRAA Meet 2026.
